Please Welcome Author Ellen McKinney!

Please Welcome Author Ellen McKinney!

About Author Ellen McKinney:

Ellen McKinney's Santa Fe Son, Best of Intentions and Private Honor are among the world's most loved mystery novels. Praised for their intriguing and vivid blend of crime scene investigations and romance, as well as for her intense formulation of characters and immense storytelling penmanship, her novels stand as a true and sworn testimony to the courtroom of her innocent plea in America's most popular literature since her first publication in 2005. Ellen McKinney was born in Peterborough, England and settled in Texas with her husband, Carey.

Ellen is currently engaging her lifelong desire for traveling, cultural experiences and is in the process of writing the sequel to her fifth novel entitled 'The Angel Wore Black'. According to forensics and a few eye witnesses, Ellen may be a conspiring accomplice with another author to further the production of another murder mystery novel entitled 'By Morning Light'.

Hello Ellen and thank you so much for stopping by!

Robin: I always like to start out with; have you always had a dream of being a novelist?

Ellen: No, actually I didn’t until I was encouraged to try my hand and once I put words on paper knew I had found a passion to write.

Robin: What does your family think about you becoming a writer?

Ellen: They are amazed and very proud of me.

Robin: Can you tell us a little about Santa Fe Son?

Ellen: sure, would be happy to.

Past memories can be wonderful, but sometimes sad for Corinne. Her world
was rocked by the seemingly senseless tragic murder of a close and lifelong
friend. The murder drastically altered the trajectory of her life as a gifted
medical professional. Overwhelmed by the loss, she was determined to make
it her mission to help bring to justice those responsible for her best friend's death.

As fate would have it, the Sheriff's Deputy first on the scene was an acquaintance of Corinne's. The crime scene at the victim's apartment was suspiciously clean with no evidence of a break in. With the crime scene wiped clean of any fingerprints, the best hope of solving this crime now rest on the meager forensic evidence.

The Deputy and Corinne join forces to solve this shocking crime. However, the entire focus of the case changed when the deputy's partner revealed a secret about the victim. His revelation led to a major complication in the case.

Was the victim reaching out from the grave leading Corinne in the right direction or was the trauma of her close friend's death playing tricks with her imagination?

Robin: Being a Texan, what made you pick the Santa Fe as the key to your story?

Ellen: Robin, I’m an adopted Texan, but I do call Texas my home. My husband Carey and I visited the city several times and fell in love with its ambiance and I thought what fun it would be to write a story using Santa Fe as the setting.

Robin: I know you moved to a new company with your books, can you tell us a bit about that?

Ellen: more personalized service and I am treated with respect and admiration.

Robin: Now for your new release…and might I say: I LOVE the cover on Private Honor. Would you please give us a little of the background on this story?

Ellen: I wanted to challenge myself and write 1st person as a male and the story just came to me. And let me tell you it’s been a blast.

Blurb: Nash Brody, a Dallas Police Captain suffers a traumatic career ending injury. His first day back on the job a close friend is murdered and Nash becomes obsessively compelled to yet pursue the case on his own, becoming a matter of private honor for him to solve the crime and landing his dream job as a private investigator.

It is with this new career that Nash is taken on an incredible journey of self awareness and revere.

Robin: Does either Santa Fe Son or Private Honor have a sequel in the works and if not, can you tell us what we can look for from you in the future?

Ellen: Private Honor does it’s called The Angel Wore Black. I’m sure down the road I will do a sequel to Santa Fe Son it would be neat to see where I could take those characters. I also have some past novels my publisher and I are going to rerelease. I have written for three upcoming anthologies and have ideas for more mysteries.

Robin: What are the genres that you work in and have you ever thought about jumping into a genre that you have never written in before?

Ellen: mostly murder mystery with a touch of romance, I did write a ghost story and some poetry recently and enjoyed branching out, also Science Fiction is an interest for me.

Robin: Where do you get your inspiration from, Ellen?

Ellen: from several different genre’s of music depending on my mood, I especially like Celtic new age and smooth jazz.

Robin: Is there any advice that you can give aspiring authors who are just starting out and think they can not do this?

Ellen: writing is not only putting words on paper it is a creative process and with perseverance and passion follow your dream, it is something you put your all into.

Robin: Ellen, this has been so much fun and I just love getting to know you better.  I have to ask…Will you come back again when your new book is released? I know I will want to know more. ;)

Ellen: of course I would love to.

Robin: Last but not lease, can you give us a little info about, The Angel Wore Black?

Ellen: sure I would be happy to.

Blurb: The Caribbean held captive what was dearest to him…his daughter.
His only choice was to go there and rescue her. An undertaking filled with mystery and danger. Finding her was only the beginning journey for Nash Brody.

Nothing in all of his training could have prepared him for what he was to encounter, but determination and strong faith sustained him. The Angel Wore Black at least his daughter saw him that way. Living up to her expectations was a task designed and custom fit for him.

Please leave Ellen a comment and get in on the drawing in the Summer Bash Giveaway to win a signed copy of one of her books. Summer Bash Giveaway starts July the 1st.

Blog Tour Interview with Christie Silvers

Please Welcome, Christie Silvers!

Hello Christie and thank you so much for stopping by on your Blog Tour. We have done so many interviews together and they all rocked. So big hugs for making the stop here, and another interview with me asking you whatever I want..LOL

Christie:  Thanks for having me, again, sweet Robin!  I’m always happy to stop by your blog.  The tour has been fun, and I just know you’ll have some new and exciting questions for me.

Robin: You are most welcome!!!

The first thing I have to ask about is book four in the Liz Baker series…how is that book coming and will we see it in 2012?

Christie: Oh yes, you will most definitely see book four in 2012.  As a matter of fact, it’s in the works for an October 2012 release date.  Just in time for Halloween!

Robin: I will be the first in line..LOL

Can you tell us a little about Liz Baker and how her world came about?

Christie Well, Liz came to me after finishing up my Alex & Fiona series.  I wanted someone tough, single, old enough to know right from wrong, yet ready to push the boundaries to her own liking.  No Skinny-Minnie woman who needed a man, but a voluptuous do-it-herself woman who could rock the world of any man she comes up against.  That’s Liz Baker.  Her world is wild and crazy, full of monsters big and small, but no matter how much she protests and complains, I don’t think she’d have it any other way.

Robin: I have read the whole series and the little short that you wrote to keep we fans from beating down your walls. LOL. Can you share a little about ‘The Chad’ and what the future holds for him and Liz?

Christie Oh, The Chad.  I love Chad.  Chad has a lot of his own personal baggage (which we’ll learn more about in book 4), but never fails to drop everything to help Liz with hers.  Chad use to be a cop in their small town of Tremmel Crossing, Georgia, but there was a big happening and then he wasn’t a cop anymore.  It’s still a big secret as to what actually happened, but he ended up with a big payout and left the force.  That’s when he became the quiet, yet hunky, bouncer in Liz’s bar.  And the relationship between Liz and Chad moves forward from there.

Robin: Your covers are amazing! Would you share with us how the creation for your covers came about?

Christie:  I agree!  They are amazing.  And it’s all due to my lovely and most-talented cover designer Kelly Shorten.  She is a doll to work with and listens to all of my thoughts and ideas on what I envision for each book’s cover.  While writing each story I “see” clips and snippets of what the cover should be.  Kelly puts those snippets together and brings my ideas to life.  I hope she creates many more covers in the books to come.

Robin: I hate to spoil anything for those who have not read the Liz Baker series…but those of us who have, have to know…Will Liz’s power grow in her other half, the not so human half? And if you can answer this without spoiling too much….Will Liz become more like her birth father?

Christie:  Yes, Liz’s powers will definitely grow.  Her powers will “mature” as she learns more about them, and herself.  She’ll eventually reign in more control over them.  As for becoming more like Gregory…hell no!  LOL.  I don’t know about you, but I like Liz just the way she is.  She will go through trials and tribulations, but in the end, she’ll always be herself.  That’s not to say she’ll never go through periods of doubt and wrong decisions.  Oh no, just the opposite.  We all know bad decisions make us who we are today.  The same goes with Liz.

Robin: I absolutely agree…and I am a HUGE Liz Fan and I do love her just the way she is. ; )

One more question before we share some information on the Liz Baker series…Do you have anything else in the works, other than book 4 in the LB series?

Christie:  From time to time I like to dabble in a little paranormal erotica.  Right now I’m finishing up a novella titled A Girl and Her Djinn.  I get to be extremely graphic in these stories, whereas I try to keep the sex a little more subdued in the Liz Baker series.  Though they still come out steamy, from what I’ve been told by readers.  ;)

Robin: Is there anything that you would like to say to aspiring author who are just starting out?

Christie Read, write, read, write.  It’s a never ending cycle.  If you aren’t reading you should be writing.  And vice versa.  Reading makes for better writers just as much as writing does.  If you don’t read how are you expected to write?

Robin: Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and chat with us. I do hope we see you again....Very Soon!!!

About the Author

Christie Silvers is a lover and writer of paranormal fiction. From time to time she dabbles in paranormal erotica, as well. Vampires, werewolves, witches, and other creatures of the night have intrigued her for as long as she can remember.

She reads more than she writes, simply because she can't get enough of books. Her Kindle (which she adores to the point of an inappropriate love affair) holds more than 100 books at any given moment. You can never go wrong by gifting her with Amazon gift cards. She'll always find something new to spend it on.

Christie lives in the woods in north Georgia with her husband, three daughters, three dogs, four cats, and five chickens. No it's not a farm, but it sure feels like a funny farm from time to time. Aside from reading and writing, she enjoys socializing on Facebook and Twitter. For more info and links visit .

Liz Baker, a 32 year old small town bar owner, thought it would be a normal evening of sex in a cemetery with her longtime beau, until she spotted someone in the distance, and all normality in her world ceased to exist.

After several murders in her small town of Tremmel Crossing, Georgia, Liz comes to the realization that the murderer is coming after her, and he’s more dangerous than any human could possibly be.

With the help of her dead mother, bar bouncer, and cemetery lover, Liz learns that the murdering vampire was sent by her biological father to claim her as his own. Only then does she discover her real parentage and underlying special powers.

However, the vampire sent to claim her has powers of his own, most importantly the power to control her mind, emotions and desires. She wants him, needs him, her entire body aches for him, but she soon finds out that she must fight back to save the lives of her friends and loved ones. Only death will release her from Marcus’s powerful hold, but who will die first?

One Amazing Series.....

I thought life would get back to normal after I offed Marcus. I wanted adventure, but not the kind that could kill me with the glimmer of an idea. Yeah, he was a god in bed, but what fun would that have been if I never felt my own feelings and thoughts again?

Now I'm surrounded by more monsters. I somehow knew there couldn't be just vampires in the world, but a girl can hope can't she? Oh well, that's not how it works in the real world.

Adele's estate is gorgeous, much bigger than I'm accustomed to, and it turns out to be an excellent headquarters once Cole McIntosh--Wendigo Extraordinaire--shows up and demands my services. Hell, I don't even know how to use the powers I supposedly have and this bastard wants me to reverse a gypsy curse. It's not my problem he's a dumb ass and got himself split in two. I happen to like his better half anyway. He makes a great sandwich!

Now Rick's pissed at me, Chad's looking as smoking hot as ever, and I have a handful of staff, friends, and my new high-class lawyer helping out...but will I be ready when Cole comes knocking at the front gate?

Little Teaser from Broken Headstones...A short read in Vol.1 of Twisted Tales

I thought I would share a little teaser of my all time favorite Cemetery horror story, that I wrote. It is one of many in my Twisted Tales series Vol.1...We will be putting out Vol.1 this year....this is the cover my daughter, Kysha McBee, created and it is perfect!!! I sure hope she is up for making Vol. 2 and 3..LOL

Hellfire Publishing

Broken Headstones:

The creaking of the rusty old iron gate caused a river of chills to flow over every inch of her body each time the wind slashed through its wrought iron ribs that were supposed to keep the living out.

Stories she had been told for more years than she would like to remember at the time flashed into her mind.  The stories claimed that those who dared go in and break the headstones in the old Burkett Cemetery would suffer the curse of the dead that roamed the graveyard at night.  Tamra stood shaking her head and smiled at the thought, first laughing out loud just a little, remembering her grandpa grabbing her and making a goofy face when he told the story.

“Billy!  You guys better hurry,” she called out, honking the horn.

They had gone there mainly because Billy’s new girlfriend wanted to see the place after hearing the story back at the lake, and Tamra was stuck, because she rode with them.  Mark and Bob were two of Billy’s friends that jumped in the car when they heard them talking about coming out here, and all four were now somewhere so deep in the enormous cemetery that she had no idea when they would come back.

“I’m gonna kill them… hum, wrong thing to say,” Tamra said, looking over at the iron gate that swung open as soon as she said the word ‘kill’.  She opened the car door and jumped in, slamming the lock down as she rolled the window up.  She opened the cell phone, knowing it wasn’t going to have any reception, then screamed as something smashed into the driver’s door window.

Terrified and leaning over with her face covered, she heard Billy’s girlfriend screaming.  Tamra was frozen, barely able to force her fingers apart enough to peek out. When she didn’t see a rotting corpse pressed firmly against the window, she sat up a little straighter.   Her second thought was they were playing a very bad joke on her, causing her fear to feel more like anger and her courage grew just enough to crack the window.

“I swear, I’m gonna kick butt if you guy’s don’t stop messing around.”  She waited for a response, but all she got was another scream from Billy’s girlfriend, this time closer.

“Mindy!” Tamra hollered out the window rolling it down just a little more.

The scream became more frantic the closer it got, until Mindy came sliding around the side of the gate.

“Oh my God,” Tamra whispered, and pulled the door handle.  She reached back to unlock it, then climbed out and ran around the car to help Mindy, but Mindy wasn’t there.  “Mindy.  Please, this isn’t funny.”

“Tamra!” Mindy screamed, and scrambled backward out of the gate on her hands and heels.

“What’s going on?” Tamra yelled in a state of panic, pulling her to her feet.

Shock fell over Tamra when she saw the fear that plagued Mindy’s face, not to mention the blood that coated her shirt.

“We have to go… we have to go now,” Mindy stuttered, grabbing Tamra by the forearm.

“Where are Billy and the others?”

“Run, we have to run!” she yelled and tried to take off, being stopped by Tamra’s grip.

Tamra slapped her and demanded, “Where is my brother?”

“I don’t know,” she cried, pulling Tamra toward the car. “I got lost when they came after us.”

“Who Mindy? Who came after you?”

“I wanna go.  Please…” she begged, yanking, trying to get free from Tamra‘s grip.

“I have to find my brother.  You have to show me where you were.”

“NO!”  She yanked free and ran off.

“Mindy, wait… get in the car!” Tamra yelled running after her, but she was fast, and Tamra was more interested in finding her brother than pursuing his girlfriend.

She went back to the car and started honking the horn non-stop, screaming Billy’s name as loud as she could.  When her voice started to give out, she let up off the horn and closed the door.  She was going to do it, she was going through that damn iron gate and bring her brother out.  Something happened in there and it scared the hell out of Mindy, but Billy was her baby brother and there was no way she was going to let anything happen to him, scared to death or not.  She was halfway to the gate when she turned and ran back to the car.  She flung open the door and took out her purse, pulling out a black knife that she flipped open, closed and stuck in her back pocket.

* * *

The sound of the gate pulled a blanket of chills across her body, as she moved it far enough to slip inside of its not so humble offerings.  Two steps in and Tamra heard the blood curdling sounds of Mindy’s scream that came to an abrupt stop, cutting off in the middle as if the sound had been yanked clean from the young woman’s body.  Tamra didn’t call out Mindy’s name this time.  Instead, she looked at her surroundings with her back hunched over, afraid to stand in fear of being seen by something other than her brother and his friends.  She quickly moved off of the small dirt road, which led into the dark of night with nothing but row after row of headstones reaching out, as if to touch the very thing that brought them to their final resting place.

Some of the headstones stood as tall as she did and others lay flat on the ground, barely noticeable to those seeking out their lost loved ones.  The mortuary was the one thing that she remembered her brother telling Mindy about the most, and was more than likely the one place he would have taken her to.  It was a one story building that stood in the middle of the graveyard, surrounded by willow trees that had been there since the time that the mortuary was built in the eighteen-hundreds.  It was also the place that was said to be where those that roamed in the protection of the dead, came to life when they were needed.

Tamra was making her way to the mortuary when she saw a movement that was much more solid than that of a mere swinging of a branch.  Its sway told her it was nothing like that of a strong healthy young man and her nerves gave her legs a new life to run.  She sprinted, weaving behind the taller headstones, dropping to the ground, hoping that the grass hid her when she heard the horrific moan of what she could only imagine as a creature from her nightmares.  Tears coated her face and tiny bits of sound escaped her mouth as the sounds came closer.  The anticipation of being gripped by the hands of the unknown gave new strength to her will to survive and she bolted, only to trip over a headstone that bent as she fell to the ground for the second time.

Tamra grabbed her knee where it had slammed into something solid as she landed behind the soft stone that had tripped her up.  She looked back and froze at what now stared back at her.  It was Mark.  His head had been ripped backward, hanging on by flesh alone, and twisted, his gaping mouth screaming a silent scream in her direction.  His head hung upside down, swinging slightly from a torso with no arms.  He had become the headstone that lay next to him on the ground, a replacement for the one he had broken – just like the stories said.

Her head began shaking as her lungs found the air they needed to expel a scream of terror.  Another sliding sound came from her left and she looked up in time to see a deformed being that was once a living man, reaching down for her and she ran.  Tamra saw the mortuary, and sprinted, jumping over every headstone in her path, hoping that she would find her brother hiding inside.  She reached the doors and started banging on them, calling out Billy’s name with pure panic in her voice.  The doors still had the chains securely in place on the outside of the handles, and there were no windows where she ran to the side to look.  She placed her back against the side wall and began to cry, thinking she was already too late.

Both of her shoulders were taken by two strong hands and she was lifted into the air, kicking and screaming the whole way.  She fought with her hands, slapping and clawing as she tried to get away and back off of the top of the one story death chamber.

“It’s me, Billy!  Tamra, it’s me!”  Billy worked hard to convince Tamra that it was really he and Bob that were holding her, and not some zombie that was going to rip her apart to utilize her remains for a broken headstone.  She flung herself into his arms and lost all composure.

“Why didn’t you answer me when I called for you?” she asked in a loud voice.

“Be quiet… I couldn’t, or they’ll know where we are.  They killed Mark and may have even gotten Mindy,” he explained in a low whisper.

“I saw Mark… what did you do, Billy?”

“Nothing, I swear.  It was Mindy and Mark.  It all started when we came in and they started pushing on the stones trying to knock them over.”

New Cover New Company...Same Wonderful Werewolf Fun!

Arrival of the Prophecy is being re-released with Hellfire Publishing... Soon!!!

Cover art by: Dara England

Edited by: Jen Hart

Dark Fantasy/ Werewolf/ Romance/ Suspense

Full Length~

5 Star Review

 A Fantastic Read! May 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Review 6 out of 5

This story is unlike any other werewolf story I have read before! Anthony Michelle is the King of the werewolves, but if it wasn't for a twist of fate, he may never have met Sky Delaney.
Anthony is a complex character. He is a fair King and respects his people, who in turn respect him. I could easily fall in love with him myself!
Sky is a woman who is not comfortable in social settings, and prefers to stay at home with her cats. I can relate to her, as I have a similar temperament! However, after meeting Anthony, something begins to change, and she becomes more self-assured.
As the story unfolded, I became engrossed in not only a love story, but a story of a prophecy.
There are some other fascinating characters that round up this wonderful tale. There is Darren and his brother Peter, and their over-bearing mother (that's one nasty lady I tell you!), plus a few others.
Robin Renee Ray has written a fantastic story that kept me hooked from the first page! I highly recommend this book. However, this book is not for the faint-hearted, as it does contain some pretty gruesome scenes! Your imagination could have a field day - mine certainly did! The imagery and detail that goes in to every scene is meticulous! I would certainly read more of Robin's books in the future.

Look for new blurb and excerpt:

Old but good Blurb:

Anthony Michelle had no idea that he would find the other half of his werewolf soul in the body of a woman who was afraid of her own shadow, not the qualities a King searched for when looking for his Queen. Then again, there was only one woman in the world that would not fall to the allure of the Wolf King, she just so happen to come in the form of a small, delicate, human female.

Sky Lashay Delaney also had no clue that she carried something that would change her life in more ways than she could even contemplate. Her bashful demeanor would soon be put to the test and everything that she knew to be normal would be placed on the shelf of complete disbelief. On a chance meeting outside The Blue Howler, a club owned by a member of the werewolf clan, the two unknowingly find their very unconventional destiny.!/RobinReneeRay
